I had bought some land earlier this year, and had deer tracks coming in pretty good and then last month or so, no tracks at all. I've caught images of a coyote on game cam last 3 times, i've gone out there weekly to check. Is it the presence of the coyote that's run them off or changing of the season into fall? I've even put out corn last 3 weeks and no tracks whatsoever. Spring and Summer had plenty of tracks coming in. I've thought about catching coyote and either hauling him off somewhere or shooting him, but talked to a wild life person and they thought it was more having to do with the deer not having the vegetation that they had earlier in year... Mystery Any ideas on this?

Do you have oak trees dropping acorns?

Thats a good point, dont have too many acorn trees, but behind me is core land so probably back there. Could it be that drastic of a change though...its been about a month since ive seen tracks. I had put out some corn several times within last month and no signs of anything eating.

When your neighbors start their feeders deer might be moving back to normal home range a bit for a while.

I had the same problem about a month ago, had deer all spring and summer, then poof just disappeared. Found out there was a late soy bean field less than a half mile over, and the groceries were better. They cut the beans about 2 weeks ago and deer have moved back in. I bet it is more about food right now, and not the song dogs, they live with coyotes everyday.
