Well, we have yet another cartridge for the AR-15. http://srcarms.com/A 223 case necked up to 25 caliber.

This one has been around for a while. It is an interesting cartridge, that doesn't get the attention that it deserves.
Kind regards, charlesb

What jumps out at me is the fact that we are now able to attain performance equivalent to the original loading of the .250-3000 (.250 Savage for the youngsters) in a case as small as the .223 Remington...and in a 20-inch barrel, at that! My statement DOES rely on what is posted on their website, of course. http://srcarms.com/wordpress/25-45-sharps/ammunition/

they were on the market 2015, I bought one, its easy to load, if you are expecting tight groups, not. I was one of the first to order from SRC, had a choice of 1-10 or 1-9, I opted for the 1-9, when I bought was $700. now over $900. easy to load, granted my barrel is not seasoned, about 1" groups, the problem is that you can't seat the bullets out only so far because of the mag design. I was ready to do a build (bolt) donor rifle ect, but my gunsmith is not taking any work till the new presidential crap is resolved.

So...the possibly valid criticism seems to be centered around lofty velocity estimates. Did you ever chronograph yours?

I just recently built a .25x45. I used a 20" BHW barrel. I haven't had a chance to shoot it, yet. I'd be surprised if it gets the claimed velocity, but don't really care. I wanted something to shoot heavier bullets for hogs and coyotes and liked that it used brass I already had on hand and bullets I already stock. As long as it functions and has decent accuracy, I think my needs for it will be satisfied. With that being said, I wouldn't expect the .25x45 or Sharps Rifle Co. to stay around very long; it won't likely have the staying power of other AR calibers. But, now that I have dies, it doesn't really matter.

The 100 grain hog-popper load looks interesting, I had never seen those before.
- And once again, I wonder about the velocity one could expect with a 20" barrel.
Probably not the best SBR round, if I got one it would be 20".
