Took my 2 year old Judas on his first fishing trip where he was the one behind the rod, he has seen 6 foot alligator gar caught before and a bunch of bass and carp caught but never got any rod time previously. so i took him with the goal of getting him on some hard fighting fish for him to learn on and have fun catching as well as get him his personal best fish. We chummed up one of my carp spots with canned sweet corn and managed to catch and release 5 common carp and a small channel catfish in under 2 hours, the biggest carp going near 8 or 9 pounds. How are you going to fish if your fishing buddy eats all the bait.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

no thats no even close to being true. the problem is allot of people want to call "carp" anything that looks like that. a common carp is considered a naturalized species in Texas(not invasive), meaning it has been here for 100 years and the research shows they are not harmful to the ecosystem. there are people that care about common carp(the same species as a koi) all over the world and all over the states as well.
i teach my kids to respect all life not just those you find desirable. my 2 year old is just as fascinated by an ant as he is by those fish. i am interested in teaching my two kids a better way to interact with the natural world rather than just killing it.
