I saw and old post on here about poaching being bad. Will I get back with my game cam and or feeder missing? Just trying to get a feel for the area.
Thanks in advance

If you have highway or blacktop frontage on your property, you will have poaching. It's almost a way of life in that part of the country and much of east texas. There used to be good deer there but with all the oil rigs going in, landscape changing, etc... I'm not sure anymore. The Richland Chambers area in Freestone County has some big deer IF you can find a place to hunt and IF you put lots of time in scouting. Bow hunting is best.

How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?

The rut is going on there about now. Bow season is the best time to hunt.

Thank you for the replies.
I am gonna miss bow season. Is there a "second rut" like in some parts of South Texas?

We are right down the road from dew not a lot of deer a couple here and there but a lot of hogs. We have not had any problems with poaching or things coming up missing

Never had anything come up missing other hogs taken out of trap. I'm sure they shot a few deer and hogs I didn't find other than that few issues.

Game warden was very helpful with my poachers. Gave him key to gate and problem went away.

Sounds great! Thanks for the replies again.
If I'm reading the book right, we are allowed to take does only during Thanksgiving weekend without the need of a MLD permit correct?
Also a very important question. ...suggestions on good places to eat in the area? Lol
thanks again

Agreed. I've only eaten in Fairfield but I'm a big fan of Sam's also, especially for breakfast. Gilberto's in Fairfield is pretty good as well. Ponte's Diner is decent from what I remember, but if you go there make sure to get a chocolate milkshake. You'll thank me later. grin

From what I remember on the does, I believe you are correct. We are MLD so I just briefly read it and didn't pay real close attention.

Thanks for the suggestions and feedback!
I'm making a list of places to eat at lol. Now silly question. ...how do I post pics? My buddy on the lease sent me some game cam pics. I read up on the help forums but don't really understand. Do I need a photo bucket app or something?

Photobucket is by far the easiest way I have found to upload pictures.

but you can also use the icon that is 5th from the left above where you type in your message. (upload image to post) that has a blue arrow pointing up. I opened up this and then hit show instructions, below is copy & pasted from there.

Inline Image Uploading (Upload files can be no larger than 4 MB each and will be resized as required on the server)
[ Hide instructions ]

Directions on how to use:
1) Click the "Browse" button and point to the image on your drive. Accepts either jpg or png format.
2) Once selected, Click "Add this File".
3) Repeat steps 1 and 2 if you want to add more than one image.
4) After you're done adding images, [ Save all images ]
The images with the appropriate [img] tags will be inserted into your post. You can continute editing to add content, then save your post.
