Dang mirage made it hard to see. Not bad considering the barrel only has 56 rounds on it. Yesterday evening it went 400, 500, 600, 700, and 800 yards center hit on everything.

Thought more of the hot doggers were going 6 creed Depends on what you want it to do.

Didn't show me that it does as well in the wind outside 800 yards. I shot one for a day at The Heatstroke Open. I was missing my 6.5. More bullet weight, great BC, fast enough, and I just "know it". I've got 5000 rounds experience behind one, so I'm just gonna stick with it.

6mm has no a$$ on target around 800-1K+. I've been an RO (range officer) in many matches, and the 6mm rounds are always harder to spot hits and misses further out. The 105 Hybrids at 3050 are freakin awesome for fast and flat from 600 yards and in. But after 800+, they lose their appeal and start to peter out. IMO, the minimum bullet weight is about 140, which the 6.5mm is right there with.
I was an RO at Rifles Only for one of the matches there. I've seen a shooter have a good impact on a resetting falling Larue target around 900 yards. The plate had to fall for it to count as a hit. The 243 Win shooter made a good hit on the plate, but low at the base on the plate (it was hinged on the bottom of the plate, and a low hit had the least amount of force to drop the plate). He called target malfunction, and wanted the point. The shooter before him was running a 308 Win and 175 SMK and knocked it over fine. So, I had the 308 shooter send 1 round and he center punched it and it fell. I asked the 243 Win shooter to hit it, and he hit it again low, and it would not fall. I told him to shoot a bigger bullet!

Thought more of the hot doggers were going 6 creed Some are. Matches are often won and lost from 600 and in. The 6mm CM does well in this range. But further out, it's often hard to see.

We took it off when it had 2000. Probably has little more life left, but put a new one on anyway. The old one wasn't on pat anymore.

25" M-24....that's the kinda rifle you could carry all day.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Building a hunting rifle in 6.5 cm with 18" barrel. Current plan is for a 1:8 twist. Would you recommend a faster twist to better stabilize bullets at range. I do not plan on hunting past 500 yards with it, but would like to be able to shoot steel past 1000 if possible. Please let me know your option. Thank you.

1:8", 1:8.5" is plenty to to stabilize 140's.
I use 1:8.5 because they are stable, it makes a tad more velocity than a 1:8" and, in the rare no wind scenario. I'm less likely to get spin drift to the right. But that's not a concern inside 600 yards.

Same loads as before? P_102 Same charge as the first barrel, and the first lot of powder. Second lot of powder, on the first barrel, I moved to 42.8 gr to get it to shoot, and it made the same velocity.

A little off topic but are you using H4350? If so what powder would use in a situation where there is zero H4350 available?
