So 3 months ago I got my first and only Mouflon. I decided I was going to tame him down and show him in 4-H and other shows even though everyone didn't recommend me doing that. Well he has been great and has never threatened or actually headbutted me , and is in the process of learning how to brace for show.
I was out walking him on Monday and as I passed one of my neighbors house their dog charged us. This dog has killed livestock before so when the dog charged off their property I thew Mufasas leash after Mufasa as he tore off. I would rather him outrun the dog even though I thought I knew that it would be very hard to catch him. I screamed at the dog and got in front of him. He stopped and ran back to the property. I turned around and was amazingly pleased to see Mufasa coming back to me baa-ing.
Then I heard the dog again and realized this time he was after me. He attacked me in the middle of the street and was actually trying to bite my face and neck which was terrifying. The owner was screaming and trying to get him off me.
The dog grabbed my hair that was in a ponytail and pulled my head into a pole so hard I saw stars and I was definitely dazed. I was kneeling on one Knee thinking I need to get up because the dog could grab my face now. When I looked up the dog was just about three feet away from me coming towards me with his mouth open and ready to bite. I remember thinking "Oh F***" while trying to raise my arm quick enough.
That's when Mufasa came out of no where and completely slammed that dog off his feet and the owner grabbed her dog as the dog was trying to figure out what had happened.

I'm mostly fine with a mild concussion, my necks sore, I have a bite on my leg and scratches and bruises on my arms and shoulders. It could of been a lot worse though if Mufasa wouldn't have interfered.

Why do you think he went against his instincts to run away and go back to his pen? Why do you think he stayed and protected me? We are talking about a sheep that had never been around humans 3 months ago, and on top of that he is a wild sheep breed. Why did he do it?

I guess that you have spent enough time with he so that he thinks of you as part of his flock.

Glad you are OK.

That was my first thought was well.

Cool story and I am glad your ok. If that sheep were mine he would get an extra large pen and live the rest of his life in comfort/sheep luxury.

As much as I love dogs, I hope so. Animal control took it away

I respect your love of animals, but a dog that's attacked and killed livestock, is an outlaw and not a pet. You need to see them for what they are and not what you would like them to be. It's not a very big jump, from the dogs point of view, to go from killing livestock to killing a person.

No. The lady told me and the cops that it was a pure pit, but it didn't look like one so I'm going to say pit cross?

Too post photos: On the top of the reply box the fifth icon from the left, it says upload image, click on that hit the browse key. Find the folder and file on you computer, open the file, then hit add this image, then save the files, which uploads them. The fourth icon, that says enter an image, is to post from a web site, that's for sites like photo-bucket.

Do you think he might have attacked you because you are a guy and have a ponytail?

JOKING! lol.. trying to inject humor.. don't mind me.. you may even be a girl.. heh

So glad you are "okay". I love all dogs, but I tell you what, that dog would be dead... I won't tolerate pitbulls not on a leash, period. Don't care what pit lovers say, an animal bred to take a bull down by the nose... is what it is.

Get well and a haircut a.. JOKING again!.. sorry.. that one slipped out :P

p.s. yes.. the name Josie suggest you are a woman... hence why I was trying to be funny.. no ill intent.. just pure funny...well, pure enough for me :P

It would be time to take the ol CHL (if you had one) for an evening stroll...

Hunting is easy..it's getting permission from your wife that is tough.

The selfie and the one when he was standing next to the black Hawaiian ram lamb were from yesterday. The one with me setting him up was from 2weeks ago. It's cool to see the color change. I think my favorite part of the breed is their tail. It's just so tinie tiny lol!!

Great story. Good goat there. Thats one of my worst fears is my wife/kids getting attacked by a dog on their walks. Maybe I should bring a mouflan home....

Good ending, thankfully, and now I know with the selfie pic why you were not carrying weapon and shooting the dog upon charging you and your property and then attacking you (you are to young for legal LTC).
