The steel 8Cr13MoV is a medium priced Chinese steel. I have a CRKT knife with a similar 8Cr14MoV steel. They take an excellent edge but are only moderate in edge holding ability. If you use your knife constantly, it's not the best choice. If your usage is moderate and you don't mind touching up the blade after a few uses it's not bad. It's more of a semi stainless than stainless. The knife brings back memories because it's very similar to a Barlow which was my dad's favorite knife.
