What are some things that you have found in a deer blind either after years and years or from one hunt to the next. The odder the things, the better. I found a burlap sack full of pinto beans one time in an old blind on a place we had just leased. I guess someone was going to cook 'em up, but just never got back to the storage unit. Found some binoculars and some candy bars in another blind on the same place.

Had one in Llano few years back, glad stand was on ground and not 15ft in air. Slid that door open and jump off that ladder real quick. We had an owl destroy one, it was pretty cool to see that thing come out with the wingspan.

sleeping bambinos (I guess adult was out scouting where to go next and stashed the kiddos). Nothing like opening a blind well before daylight for such surprises.

Also the usual; owls, wasps and sometimes a spent casing or drink cans that were not mine and no one ever fessed up to hunting my blind. Suspected landowner was day leasing out from under us when he started calling and asking if we were coming out. I would never respond and finally confirmed he was letting others in to hunt. Left that lease with some strong parting...

Previous lessee's Playboy collection. I was 17. Funny, I never shot a deer out of that blind.

You get caught up on the articles!

We once found a live snake in a 20 ft blind, where owls had made it their home on the off season.

Pulled up to a blind one morning to drop off a hunter. Was shining the headlights on the steps and my flashlight on the blind at the top. The door opened and two guys dressed in all black came out onto the top deck and steps with sub machine guns slung over their shoulders. My hunter spoke Spanish and exchanged a few words with them. Said they were just resting on their way thru and if we'd go our way, they'd go their's. As I was backing up, the two guys came further down the steps and a man in a suit (no tie) walked out on the top deck. We hauled it back to the headquarters (8 miles) and called Border Patrol as we didn't carry cell phones back then. BP got there within 30 minutes but these guys were looooong gone. What are you gonna do? Bolt action isn't much use against full auto and we had no interest in finding out.

Lots of that activity in our area and it's gotten worse recently with the catch and release policy of our government. We're smack dab in the middle of highways 59 and 35 with the Callaghan to our West, the Briscoe Lincoln-Nicholson to our East and the Junco to our North. If they make it to the Junco, the BP will stop pursuit. Nunley brothers don't allow BP to pursue onto or through their ranch any longer.

And yes, I smoked it. (25 years ago and it was pretty good too)

Had a skunk come in the ground blind with me back un June while bow hunting Aoudad outside of Brackettville. That was quite the tense situation. Apparently skunks are repelled by the smell of crap. I was mentally prepared for spiders, lizards, even snakes, but not skunks.

the usual like wasps, yellow jackets, spiders, granddaddy long legs (those will get your attention in the dark of the morning crawling down your neck).

years ago, I found empty cartridges (like a dozen) in one of our ground blinds from some caliber no one in our camp had ever heard of (I don't recall what it was now, but some metric WWI or WWII German Mauser), this was back in the day (circa 1960s/1970s) when everyone pretty much hunted with 30-06, 270, 243, 22-250, 30-30, etc. that used ammo you could buy at the local small town hardware store.

Very wise. I've heard these stories from others. Discretion is truly the better part of valor in your neck of the woods. That's "No Country for Old Men" crap. No. Thank. You.
