Regarding these chaps....does anyone here use them? If so, please give me your opinion of them? Do you prefer single or double layer?

I have them and got the double layer I think. I don't sweat a whole lot so they're not too hot to me. But I like them a lot. Definitely worth the money.

I also have and wear the "double tin" Filson chaps. They are a tad on the hot side for S. Tex hunting, but they are also nice and warm when its cold out or hunting up north. They are waterproof, tough and prevent thorns etc... but they are NOT snake proof so I have always worn snake boots underneath them in S. Tex. I bought a can of the wax cotton treatment years ago and treat all my upland clothes yearly and they stay in top shape. I would buy another pair when these wear out... mainly because they work and I like the classic waxed look. I've also worn Turtleskins and they are by far the best "snakeproof" chap... but they are $299 a pair.

If you know what size you wear in Filson, make sure you call the two outlet locations before buying at full price. I get a lot of gear from them that way at a deep discount....

Got turtle skins when they were cheaper. Wilson aren't snake proof. Also have a pair of the old leggings made in Priddy. Wish they were still around. Think they were called Texas Armour.

I use single tin. There is no zipper if that's important. It doesn't get cold enough for a double tin where I hunt

The single are broke in right out of the box. I hear the double takes a long time to break in

I am not aware of Filson outlets. Where are they?

For what its worth, I have the single tin cloth chaps, jacket and pants. Love them all. It does not get cold enough to hunt with the doubles where Im at.

I have the single tin chaps and like them. May get the double tins next since I plan to do some more hunting up north in the future.

Best chaps I've used. I forgot my chaps once and Catch Dog let me borrow his. I'm just waiting on him to gain a few more pounds so I can take these off his hands rofl

Tin Cloth is hard to beat, I have pants, coat and hat. I get called the tin man but I never get cold or tore up in the SD brush. A life time investment if you take care of them.

If I am not mistaken, the only difference between the single and double tin chaps is that the double tin have a double layer of cloth below the knee. The upper thigh part of the chaps is a single layer on both sets of chaps. Double tin protects the lower leg better if you are inclined to hunt with lower top upland style boots. I never really noticed a break-in period because at the flex points, the double tin chaps are single layer.
