This is just my opinion, but I think of it as a poor mans swaro. I dont have either scope as I can only afford nikons, but have shot rifles that have had both. And the swfa is a good scope, but not a great scope.

I have a 5-20 HD that I'll never sell. It looks like hell, now, after years of heavy use, but it never let's me down. Good glass, good reticle, good turrets. The 3-15 is also a good scope, but the glass is not of their "HD" line, and I can tell when I look through one. It may work just great for you though. SWFA has a no BS warranty. You break it, they'll make it right.

I've told Skylar they need to make a 3-15 with HD glass, but does he listen to me? Noooooo.... peep

Have not used the variables, so cannot comment on those.

The SWFA SS fixed power scopes are a fantastic value.

Clear and reliable.

Skylar,

Any way to lose the post at the 12 o'clock position on the MilQuad and MOA Quad reticles?

It serves no purpose and blocks the view.

Perhaps. We patented that reticle the way it it. The bars draw your eye to the center and do not obscure the FOV when shooting longer distances.

I will run this idea by the product engineer though.

I have their 3-9x? FF mil/mil, and love the scope. The SS scopes I've played with were pretty good for the money. I like them.

I like their scopes. IMHO, you get a lot for the money.

I've got 3 of the 3-15, the HD 3-9 and the HD 1-6. I clearly like them.

I had a 16x fixed and 3-15x42. Both were excellent and well worth their cost.

So you had your mind made up on that prior to this thread, that's provided nothing but good reports on the SS.

Ss is no where in the same league as razor and nf. He prolly did some research

Thanks for the info.

But I've looked through, and used, all of them. Twice the price does not buy twice the scope.

Didn't say it did. But my bushnell was about the same price but imo much better glass

I think ss is great price to value but I feel you are comfortable spending 2000-2500 on glass p/v is most likely not your highest factor

You are correct. I was only considering the SS scope on a trade I was in the middle of working. I owned a Razor and sold to upgrade to a Gen 2 but ended up using money for a surgery I had. I'm sure the SS b great on a cheaper rifle but not on what I have

I find it hard to understand how the price of a rifle has anything to do with the quality or value of a scope. P_102

I don't get that either. Right now I have an SS 5-20 HD attached to a rifle and suppressor I've got about $3800 in.

So in a given product the marginal cost of improvements are not uniform acceoss the price spectrum. So if the best scope is 5k and the next best are 2500 and the third group is 1250. Generally the difference bettween the tiers is not the same.

So in a table it would look like

5000 -best you can get
2500- maybe 90-95% as good as the best
1250- maybe 80% as good as the best

Generally as people move up the specutrum the cost is less of a discerning factor. But there is a performance difference across the spectrum
