We went MLD 3 this year allowing us to start rifle hunting October 1st, and so far, we've seen some pretty good activity.

A little back story: My dad (PMK on here) has also joined on the lease with me this year in Freestone. One of the previous members on the lease left, so I stuck a feeder there to claim a spot for dad. We got his new blind built and set up, and I found another area on the opposite side of the ranch to put another stand I picked up. We are a little heavy on the hunter numbers, but a lot of the property is extremely dense so it seems to help "spread us out" better.

Oct. 1st & 2nd weekend- Dad shot 2 does and a pig. I shot a doe and 3 pigs. 10 pigs were shot Saturday with everyone in camp. I watched a mature 10 point Saturday morning and took some pictures to look him over better at camp. After looking him over, I decided I wanted him since he would be my best 10 to date and he was just purdy.
I hunted him hard the rest of the weekend with no-shows the rest of the weekend.

This past weekend, Oct. 8 & 9 - I was watching a trashy main frame 8 eating with a yearling when the 10 walked out. I played a little Enny-minny-minny-mo between the two and finally decided on the 10. I realize its early in the season, but I just loved that 10.

Anyways, on to the pics.

Last weekend when I took some pics. Feeder is right at 150 yards. I had my wife's Canon T5i with me in the stand last weekend.

The wife was taking 6mo. pictures of our little boy so she wouldn't let me bring the cam this past weekend.
Phone pic through binos of the trashy 8

Here's the 10 up close..He was quartered hard away from me when I let the 180 gr Berger fly. I'm normally a neck shooter, but never could get a good neck shot, so I waiting on him a bit and found this opportunity. He fell in his tracks and didn't move a muscle.

Good looking 10!! Congrats up

8 definitely appears to be from the same genetic line of your other one. Should be impressive in the next couple of years
