Hey fellas,

Just found this forum, excellent info. I hunt 15 miles west on 189 off of 277. I have a couple deer Ive been tracking last couple years and wanted some input on age and score. Let me know what yall think.

Here is the other Bruiser, has a tag in his ear so i assume he escaped a HF. Been on him 2 years to no avail. We are LF.

We started protein in 03/15. I have more pics of this guy put gotta sort through thousands! I think he has a son hanging around too, similar horns but smaller body.

Thanks for any help.

We been letting young ones go since, well seems like since we bought the place in 2006. 2005 had a massive anthrax outbreak, and i estimated 66% kill off. Each years gotten better, last great year i recall was 2008. Drought hit us hard, bit weve supplemented water with rain guzzlers to help em out.During dry spells we truck water from windmill and fill the totes with pumps. Last couple years auodad and axis been moving in. Auodad more of a nuissance imo.

I would call them both 5 year olds. About 115 on score for the top one. High 140s on the bottom one. Could go higher hard to tell from the pics.

Good luck getting him this season. up

Thanks fellas,

Heading out to ranch Wednesday. Hope to see them guys on TC, or even a few more. If so ill add more pics after another 10 months of protein and a much better year. This will be year 3 hunting the big one, usually appears on TC in October, then January! Rain guzzler held water most of the year. Last year darn hogs sliced hose, now in pvc pipe from guzzler into ground. Anxious to see the pics and set another TC for my sons new stand.

This is a beautiful deer. Just gorgeous. I would shoot him and never think about the score or if he was a tad young. Enjoy.

Went out last week and got photos to share. Not terribly impressed but i also realize its still warm and tons of forage around.

I get a real kick out of the last one. Makes me think of a junior high school dance, bunch of timid dudes hanging out. Will these young uns ever amount to anything?

The axis are tough. I have never seen one in my stand, only pics. I have learned they love the protein and are drawn to it. We are LF so they come and go as they wish. Of course i wouldnt hesitate on this one.

Any chance pics 5 and 6 same deer? Looks a lot better in daylight, with limited view.

The 10 in the 2015 pic is 130's, nice mature deer. The 10 is a mature deer, take him (4-5 year old)

The young deer in the feeder is about 115-120" (9 point), the 8 is 120's, and are too young to take.

Have yet to see either deer from 2015 pics, little nervous.

Got eeem fellas!

Must of seen 20-30 deer opening morning as I made my mind up this is the only one I would settle for! He was there the previous morning before first light so I had hoped he would return and maybe Id see him leaving area. Well, Saturday morning I saw big horns jump out the feeder pen (it was him verified by game camera later), unsure if it was him or not as its in the shadow of oaks. 2 bucks were in there eating, so I had my scope on them just looking. When i pulled my eye back, i caught a deer walking toward feeder in front of oaks. I glassed him and about had a heart attack, it was him! He picked me up and darted into the oak grove as my heart sank. He then, jumped into the feeder pen, I was stunned. I had to reset twice as buck fever took over, then held steady as much I could and slowly pulled my accu trigger. He dropped dead in his tracks (thank goodness)! I did not exit stand for 1.5 hours as deer were all around me. That was the worst part about the whole thing! I had 5 mature bucks stare at this beast, really made me respect him even more. Cousin counted 17 legal points, just a 16.5 inside spread. Very thick horns. Taxidermist said at least 6.5 years old and easily into 150s. He weighed 180 lbs. I am still in awe over a week later. Ive had trouble uploading photos, I could not get ones with my boy and I into the forum thread. My only regret is my boy wasnt with me, he was in his stand for the first time.

He dropped at 8am November 5th, stunningly at the corn feeder! This is after last year he disappeared after Oct 26, thought Id never see him again. Now to figure out a majestic mount for this Bruiser...
