Its been a while since I posted but this week I spent a bunch of time out with my camera and I wanted to share it with y’all. It is such a fun time of the year - the height of the rut! When the light of day is just breaking the raspy roar of the stags is at its loudest - on and on they go bellowing and bugling and mooing and braying! So much action in the early morning - highly entertaining watching the males trying to round up the females and challenge the other dominant stags - Nature’s best soap opera! Each year this time our herd becomes fractured with groups of females being guarded and courted by their stags and other stags roaming constantly challenging each other and trying to swoon any female in sight. We came across this particularly active scene in a little valley - there were five large stags who were going this way and that roaring their heads off trying to impress those girls! It was chaos! One would drive off a few females and then spot another one and take off after that one while another stag swooped in behind him to claim the original does - it was like Saturday night at the disco! Then the stags were chasing each other off and the entire group headed into the woods. I waited for some time hoping they would re-emerge to the sound of crashing against the trees and the banging of horns being locked and endless roaring. The only thing in soundtrack competition for the stags might be the fallow grunting and snorting on and on and on - there is one large white fallow in the brush behind the house that has been going continuously day in and day out, we are desperate to put it in our crosshairs - but that may have to be another post. Hope everyone had a good summer and are looking forward to an excellent hunting season. Consider us for your meat hunt needs - our hinds are only $500 and of course we have plenty excellent stags and other exotic trophies on offer.

Thanks for kind comments. kdkane1971 - you may see the very tail end of the rut when you visit, although most of it will be over - we look forward to having you!

Was bowhunting a Lf place in Bosque County last week and had one tearing up a tree and roaring about 75 yards from me. Totally awesome experience.
Nice pics!
