Well I must be living right because I got drawn for the gun deer either sex hunt at Kerr WMA Nov 11 - 17th on the second draw. Anyone hunted there recently? I'm wondering what to expect. Are stands provided? Are some compartments much better than others? Are there feeders provided or do you bring your own corn?
Also, cheapest place to stay? It looks like Kerrville may have the best, cheapest options?
Thanks for any input!

Lucky dog!! Been putting in for that one for years and have never drawn. Congrats on the draw. Kerrville has a bunch of hotels to choose from..... I have stayed there for several hunts. I really like the YO ranch hotel. Very hunter oriented including horns and taxidermy in the rooms. The resturant is pretty darn good as well.

Good luck, You are drawn for compartments. Feeder and blind are already set up. Some exotics and hogs also. Stay at the beautiful Presbyterians church camp one mile easy of KMA right on the Guadalupe river. Pri. Campsites, Cabins, Bunkhouse, and 4star accommodation motel rooms and restaurant. https://www.moranch.org/

I hunted it in back to back years for archery and then also the second year for rifle(1st week of Dec) back in 1997 and then in 1998. No blinds/feeders were provided and it was compartment only and baiting was allowed. Deer will come to rattling and a grunt call. I hunted a pasture that was around the breeding research pens the second year rifle and archery then the pasture that joined it first year archery. Some of the pastures are very thick with cedar and some are opened up with still pockets of thick cover. Water is not widely spread out but more in corners where pasture connect. Those deer do not use water regularly since they are not heavily stock with deer or livestock. So they do not hit water on a regular basis like you would expect. Look around the clearing and edges for sign....tracks, rubs and scrapes. If you find fresh rubs and scrapes you will see deer. Population is not like most Hill Country areas though. I did see and rattled in axis bucks. I killed one but rattled in 3 of them. I did not seen any other exotics or hogs. Good luck! It is a fun place to hunt.
