I'm new to the crossbow, having bought a PSE Fang package to get started this year. The package included a cheapie scope. Like everything I seem to get into, I'm already contemplating an upgrade. It just seems like a waste to buy a specialized c/b scope instead of a quality 2.5x or 3x fixed rifle scope. I know it wouldn't have all the cross-hairs, dots & junk, but is that necessary? My c/b shoots REALLY fast! With a 20 yd zero & a little bit of quick figuring, a 5yd to 30yd shot seems like no problem. When I use to tree stand bowhunt with a regular compound I used a single 20yd pin only. I pre-determined what the max top-of-back hold distance was. Back then my bows shot 200fps. This c/b is 300fps+! I don't think reverse-recoil on the scope is an issue with a c/b like an air-rifle or is it?

Any thoughts?

I've heard that it's not the reverse recoil but the vibration that ruins the scope.
Maybe they just want to sell crossbow specific scopes?
Do a google search and see what comes up!

My crossbow is 20 years old and I put a Simmons crossbow scope on it when I bought it, and it's still going strong after all these years just like the first day I put it on.
