How has the quail hunting been in the past around Lewisville and Roberts? I haven't bird hunted in years and thought I'd give it a try this fall.

My guess is, you would be wasting your time. But you could stumble up on a covey I guess. Still better than sitting at home.

I wouldn't waste your time quite frankly. Go west young man.

Where do you recommend west and public? I'm open to driving a little.

Matador and Gene Howe are the two best WMA's in the state as far as bobwhite quail hunting goes. IMO of course.

What TxPanhandler says.Good public hunting in western OK this year too, but would need to get an Okie license of course.

I was training dogs up at the Grasslands north of Decatur last weekend and talked to the Game Warden to ask her if she had seen any wild birds with the comeback and she saw three our four a month earlier on the road against the designated bird dog training area where they dont allow hunting, very very few even that far west with pretty good habitat.

Never hunted in that area, but with the rebounding numbers there ought to be a few coveys in Pay Mayse WMA and Caddo Natl grasslands.
