Here's a buck we've been watching for the past 3 years on our East TX property. I'd like some help aging him. I have attached photos of him from 2014 and 2016. How old do you think he is?

I would call him a 5 yr old. Nice looking buck also.

He's 5 but no way I can tell that's the same buck from 2014. If it is, he grew a G2 or G3 on his left side since then.

The middle photo buck is different than the bottom photo that is..The bottom one may be the 2014 buck but maybe not..

Is the left G2 split in the middle pic and not in the bottom black and white pic or is that simply a camera angle?

I think they are all the same deer and mature. Given the 14 picture I would agree with the others and say 5 YO.

Yes G2 is split in the bottom pic. Definitely the same deer.

Thanks for your help guys, I was thinking 5 1/2 yrs old.

I'll go with a healthy 4yo.

I'm assuming you're in east texas which typically has an early rut.. if the date is right in the first pic, I would say he was a swollen 2yo .

Great looking buck and would be tough to pass!

I think we'll take him if we get the chance. If we dont I'm sure our neighbors will.
