Found this guy working over the feeder for 2+ hours last week but noticed he is missing a leg. Guess he needs to be removed.

Yes, had one just recently....missing the left rear leg below the first large joint.

Had been watching it on video for a few weeks. Sometimes with a group, other times by itself.

Ended up being 1 of the 5 I trapped a couple of weeks ago.

That is not the only hog missing a leg (or part of a leg) that I have encountered. They are tough animals.

Since just about every hunter in the State of Texas has declared war on these nasty pests, I wouldn't be surprised if his missing leg was a result of shot fired in anger but that didn't hit a vital spot. And, yes, they are tough animals; and yes, again, even with 3 legs they can run any human to ground! Take him out if you get the chance!!

Tough animals. You got to appreciate them. They are great animals to hunt

Talking about tough, I shot a about 100 pound boar on evening with shotgun. I hit him in the head with 00 buck at about 20 yards, he went down, but got back up. I gave him the other barrel to the head and he went down. He started trying to get up again and I was reloading. He finally was down for good. When I cleaned him that evening I found a broad head lodged in his spine that one of the other hunters in our group had hit him with that morning. He acted normal before I shot him. Can you imagine walking around with a broad head in your spine?

All that work deserves a whole hog.

It kind of looks like it was blown off and poked through the hide while healing making that scar tissue and knots. If you get him do an autopsy on that stump. I'd be interested in how the end of the bone looks.

One shot is all it should take.

I have had 4 hunters take 3 legged hogs. I think in 2 of the cases the leg was lost due to snares, 1 case the hog had 4 legs but one front leg was tiny and, the last one looked like it what shot off.

I had a large boar around last year that had three normal legs and a little T-rex leg. Finally got him after deer season. He tasted fine!

Hadn't seen a tripod hog yet that's a new one!
