My son was drawn for the youth hunt at the Sam Houston National Forest, one thing I don't understand is, what does that really mean besides getting a tag? Is the forest still open to anyone with an APH? If so that means I could also hunt with my tags and APH?
I suppose the forest is not open just for those who were drawn either adults or youth.
Thanks for any clarification anyone can provide.

What he drew was an antlerless deer permit. Anyone with an Annual Public Hunting Permit can hunt in the SHNF but it is buck only with antler restrictions. Your son is now allowed to shoot a doe. They will send you a special tag in the mail.

Got it! Makes sense now that I re-read the permit/draw types for adult and youth.
Thank you!
