coming back from the deer lease yesterday , since the Bluebonnet still had a line, we stopped at Peete's BBQ around 1:30 pm. The first time I went was last year when they first opened, it was HORRIBLE.

This time the food was GREAT !!! Portions were HUGE!!! I had the 1/2 chicken plate, 3 sides, the Collards were really good, buddie had pulled pork and brisket, all were very moist and smoked perfectly.

Oh yeah, the service was pretty unorganized and slow

Sounds real tempting, will have to give it a shot If the food is that good, I can live with the slow service.

try out Bill's Burgers, Wings & Things, turn left at the light immediately north of the Blue Bonnet Cafe, 3rd street. go one block to Main street and turn right, they are on the right. Might become one of your favorite burger places!

been a few years, but Ken's Catfish, BBQ and Bakery has (or used to have) really good fried catfish & fixings, brisket was decent too.

I have heard really good things about another BBQ place called Holy Smokes that is out north on 281 across from Walmart but a block off 281 to the east ... turn east on Trade Street, then north on Commerce ... about the middle of the block on the left.
