I've been exclusively shooting and hunting with 120 grain Hornady A-max in my 6.5 Creedmoor. I've tried other bullets and grains but have gotten the best accuracy from the 120s. I have only had 2 animals move after being shot with the A-max. One was a doe that was about 70 yards and she ran 50 or so yards with a fist sized hole in her chest. The other was a hog that I hit a little far back at 140 yards on the run and he made it 15 yards before he bled out from his femoral artery.
I know it isn't a "hunting" bullet but it keeps killing animals for me.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

A lot of people hunt with the vld I imagine the results arnt much different
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I hunted with the 168 grain Amax in my .308 for several years. I only lost one pig out of all the animals I shot.

I've killed multiple does and hogs with my 300 WM and 208 Amax. All shots within 300 yards. Nothing took a step.

They're good to go. 155gr Amax is great in .308

I use AMAX in my .308 It does some damage but I've never had to track anything into the brush.

I load for both me and my brother. Last year was the first season we used them.
Both shoot 6.5 Creedmoor loaded w/ 140gr A-Max and H4350.
I love the round personally. I need to post the pic of the buck my brother shot. Large 10 point at 310 yards facing us. Honestly, during the situation, in the back of my mind I thought "I hope this bullet punches through the chest."
Bullet it square in the chest and that buck hit the dirt faster than I've ever seen. I will never doubt the bullet moving forward.

I am in the same exact boat. My creedmoore absolutely loves the 120 AMAX factory loads. I have a trip to Montana for Mule deer coming up soon and will be taking them if I can't fine tune a handload with accubonds. O

It also shoots Berger 140 VLD Hunting bullets with extreme accuracy. I haven't shot any game with the Accubonds yet, but the VLDs are awesome. The Creedmoor is just plain old FUN to shoot and load for.

168 will turn a set of lungs into a pool of blood. Don't know that I'd try a shoulder shot with a lighter, faster bullet.

I shot quite a few deer with a 208amax in 308 but I'm using 6.5 creed and sst's now. It performs much the same but I haven't had anything move after being hit with the SST. . One 208 Amax hit was a little questionable as to bullet performance but the deer did die. Just didn't penetrate much past the ribs and the deer was only 60 yds out. The ones I shot at 2-300 yds were sure enough drt hits with jelly organs but the one that was close just blew up at the rib bones.
