Can vouch, uncle used to own a piece on the Callaghan a while back and there were some nice deer on there. Went a couple of years ago to do some work and there were deer EVERYWHERE, it was nuts. One of the greatest ranches in Webb, easily. up

That is about the going rate for a lease spot on a heavily managed Webb County lease. Arguably the best county in Texas for huge whitetail.

You better have some deep pockets if you want the key to the gate on some of those ranches down there. I could never afford it but lots of people can.

I know a guy who leases a part of the King ranch for himself for over $400,000/year. And the knucklehead is in real estate.

Price ain't nothin but a number to some.

And considering your leasing 750 acres of prime trophy habitat for that money it's really not that bad of a deal. People spend more per acre in the hill country to lease 100 acres to put 3 or 4 hunters on and think they're getting a great deal. Lmao.

What does he lease for $400K? That doesn't sound like good business to me.

That's about right because top Hill Country places are commanding between 4 to 5k and South Texas has always been about triple what the Hill Country goes for...

Deer hunting has become a upper middle class to rich class activity for sure...

17,000 acres of the east pasture. He put several million in infrastructure on it out of his pocket as well. When money isn't an issue....

That ain't bad $23.53 an acre for a piece of paradise. Seen some hill country and other S TX leases cost way more by the acre. I wish money wasn't an issue. 2cents

I don't know why you wouldn't just buy yourself a ranch at that point, but more power to him if he can afford it.

Same here. Guess he has his reasons. And evidently they're worth plenty.

Sam Walton never bought his own ranch. It was better for him to lease. The Walmart executives still lease down in that area.
