What is a Barashinga deer? Are they from across the border? You meant Barasingha.

Permits require a commitment to keeping an established breeding herd. When you do that you can get the Cull and Take permits. It's not through th state, it's through USFW. If you contact EWA they can get you in touch with someone that that can help set you up.

Do you have to get a CITES permit for any endangered species animal?

OK, do you really think people who will know what the barasingha is, mounted all nice and pretty, will care after the fact that it's dead and mounted if you killed it with or without the CITES permit?

I'm all for going through proper channels, don't get me wrong. All I'm saying is do what you gotta do.

Are Barashinga schedule 1 or 2? A schedule 1 animal raised under a breeding permit qualifies for schedule 2 status. The penalty for taking a schedule 2 animal without a permit is up to a $3500 fine and up to 6 months in jail. a schedule 1 animal is up to a year in jail and a significantly higher fine. The reference I looked at, went off on a tangent with specific animals, but at least for some species, it's as high as $100,000. Also a taxidermist that has a schedule 1 or 2 animal on there premises without the paperwork can also be heavily penalized.
