Here we are, four days and a wake up from time to draw blood, and this forum is dead. There should be a page of new threads per day. Pics of set ups and target animals. It's like we've lost all of our bowhunters. confused2

Best I got, if you look at the left side you might be able to see the little spec that is my feeder.

I was thinking the same thing. Unfortunately I will miss opening weekend. Just sold our house and have to finish moving. First opener I have missed in 7 years.

Last one I missed was 11 years ago. 11 years ago today I had my first heart attack and was in 5he hospital. Doctor wouldn't let me out to go.

Going to miss opening weekend but will be out during the week. Bucks will be chasing the does before bow season is over at my lease or at least they have been for the 14 years I have hunted there, and using some vacation time to hunt then. Hopefully it will be a little cooer by then as well. I am the only one that bow hunts my place and unless it has changed on the neighbors the only one around there. Will be out on the days off until then.

Well this year I'm going to fill one tag with my recurve. We are busy trying to get at least a couple set ups going on the ranch we purchased as well as finishing up readying my lease set ups. Supposed to close on the second half of the ranch in October. Then we will be working more than hunting. I'm sure we will find time to sit a few times. I will get some pics of my pop up set up on the ranch here in a few minutes.

It has been an interesting off season for me, but I agree it seems the typical excitement on the forums has been slow. Maybe there haven't been as many pictures taken due to the great natural forbs or maybe people are getting more selective about what they show, or maybe they are just getting tired of the forum???

Either way, I plan to get out sat afternoon for the evening hunt. Wish I could hit it both sat and sunday, but I have obligations at home I can not miss (was asked to help baptize someone sun am). So I am really hoping my son can seal the deal with his first bow kill this sat. Got our tripod stand brushed in this past Saturday and I don't anticipate any way the deer will know we are there clap

Haven't seen anything from bjankowski or Rloving1 in a while on this forum in a while, both of them have been pretty active here in the past. hope they are ok.

Was wondering the same. It's almost go time!

Headed out of Houston Friday after work for the long drive to VV county. Its my first year on this lease and they've taken some nice deer there. I finally got my camera set up opening weekend of dove so I have no idea what might come to the feeder Saturday morning. Just like the good old days before game cameras.

Good luck everyone that is hunting and be safe.

I agree. I haven't had any topics to post, but I'm totally geeked about getting out there this weekend. I've got my pop-ups set this past weekend. Camera picked up a set of two mature bucks - one 9 and the other 10 with a split brow that's coming in right before dark - or at least he's been showing recently consistently. So hopefully will get him on the ground on Saturday night. It'll be awesome. Plan to hunt with a bow vs xbow this year. Last two years was about the xbow, which was fun. But I realized I missed using a bow.

I'm leaving Friday afternoon headed to a new lease I got on this year in east Tx, I'll hunt there the first two weekends and then try to make it out to my property in Carta Valley for the next, I haven't got any "good" pics off the east TX place but I expected that when I got on it, I only got on it so I'd have a place to hunt when I can't make the 8 hour drive to my place.
Good luck y'all cheers

I'm stuck like chuck. We're in the process of selling my current home and moving to the new one.

I missed all of the early Teal and will miss the opener this weekend. I probably won't get to go until the 3rd weekend of October and even that is ify. bang bang

Well I'm excited as all get out. This will be my first try at stick and string. Been practicing every evening almost for a month. Got some tree stands setup at my place. I couldn't set them as high as I'd like to because of the trees and location(still have 2 in a box to put out). But now with work and other responsibilities I'm not sure when exactly I'll get to go. But I'm actually excited even yet. I figure even during regular rifle season I might get a shot with my bow. Pretty certain I'll see a pig or two if the deer have all gotten the memo by then.

Not having a lease is a bummer. Have you looked into public hunting opportunities?

My target buck has been on TC one time in the past 34 days now. Last time was 7 days ago. A couple of other mature bucks have showed up again also and on TC almost every night for the last 5 days now. The stand I have set up to hunt for my target buck is best for south or southeast winds which are normal. Southwest or East would be marginal. Supposed to have east or northeast on Friday night, all day Saturday and into Saturday evening. So might have to move to another spot or sit back in a rifle blind and scout from a distance. Like I did 2 yrs ago opening morning. Good thing about this time of the year is about 1 new buck shows up per week till early November then a bunch show up in a week/10 day period. I am still excited about the season start just to sit and see what the bucks look like in person at close range.

Went to Kansas last weekend but it was pretty uneventful. Won't be hunting this weekend. Good luck to all that will be out in the woods and keep those of us stuck at home informed as we will be hunting vicariously through y'all
