I'm wanting to video my bow hunts, if I can. What do you use? GoPro, camcorder?

I've never had video footage, but do plan to use my GoPro I've had for 3 years.

Should have had video rolling on the pig I shot this past weekend. Tried a spine shot while he was directly inline with me and his head down.

He flip backwards landing on his back (breaking arrow off in him) while hitting his head on the bottom of my coon guard.

I've been using a little Panasonic HC-V210 the past couple of years. Very new to the filming game and have only done solo filming, but it's still fun to try and this camera does very well, in my opinion for a small lightweight camera. I set it up on a tripod in a box/ground blind or use a tree hanger in a tree stand. It's got 72x zoom and HD filming, so long as the SD Card is fast enough. I've only gotten a hog kill on video, because when I have gotten opportunities at deer, it's happened to fast to remember to film, or I simply don't have the ability to move the camera at full draw.

I use my I-Phone. The quality in the i-phone these days is as good as you need.... heck, up to 4K video! I have a holder that gives me ultimate flexibility. Like this one:

https://www.amazon.com/AboveTEK-Goo...keywords=iphone+holder+for+bed&psc=1

I can clip it to my box blind, or tripod, or limb or whatever is handy and near me. I also carry a piece of tie wire just in case I need a little more support or flexibility. I shoot right handed, so I mount it on my left side, within arms reach, so I can turn it on quickly. Here is a video I took hunting solo with this exact setup:

Chad,
IMHO, the cameras designed for this application (go pro, tactacam) are worthless. Go pro is lousy in low light conditions and both have wide angle lenses that don't zoom and make the images small. Go on YouTube and watch hunting videos filmed with these devices...it's real hard to see impact shots. Also, mounting the camera on the bow, while convenient, is worthless for tracking impact shots because of the vibration of the bow at release.

My recommendation is to buy a used Sony handicam off craigslist. They are pretty cheap and very effective. A tripod (in a blind) or tree clamp (in a tree stand) iwill give you the best results.

Hope that helps. I also hope one day go pro figures out how to zoom...

Lou

I have a handycam. I have made and bought different mounts and tripods. However when I have it set up I don't see animals or at least the right ones. That or I loose camera light. However I'm going to keep trying.

Just starting to video this year. I am putting an old go pro, set on narrow FOV, on a homemade aluminum mount. The bow stabilizer will screw through the mount to the bow. Going to shoot a few tonight to see how it changes noise and find the right angle.

Cool set-up. Let us know how it works out.

I bought something just over a year ago and really haven't had a chance to try it yet. I bought a camera from Ultimate Wild that is about the size of a small flashlight that has a mount that fits where your stabilizer screws in. It uses the sd micro card. I will be trying it Saturday morning should get a chance at a doe at one of my setups.

You may have different results, but I've NEVER been successful trying to video with anything attached to my bow. The shake and vibration solely from the action of shooting makes the video practically worthless, never mind your natural reaction to lower your bow after the shot and watch the animal run off. Just think.... when was the last time you shot at a deer, and immediately after you shot, you followed the deer holding up your bow with your sight pin on the animal? I know I don't. Now, if you really want to use a GoPro, try putting it up on the OPPOSITE side of where you think the animal will be when you shoot. Here is an example...and remember, this is mounted on a tree behind my feeder. I turn it on remotely.

I hunt public land and stank a handful. When in a treestand (climber) I plan to also use a camera arm to have better video
