After 2 years not bow hunting, I finally got set up this year to bow hunt. I have an isolated spot from all the other hunters on our place. The feeder is getting hammered and the ground heavily torn up with 3 good scraps within eye sight of my bow stand. I have a very well camouflaged ground blind on the North side of the feeder at 25 yards for a Southern wind direction. I have an elevated quad pod tucked into a big cedar tree on the South side at 20 yards for a Northern wind direction. I tend to get busted by scent fairly easily, so I play the wind game every hunt.
What are y'all's set up for your bow area? Do you have multiple spots at each hunting area for the wind?

I have tripods, blinds and ladder stand set ups. I set up for different winds, hand corn/road feeder set ups and pen and non pen feeders.

But then again I've been around a long time and have accumulated a lot of gear.

I consider myself lucky that I have hunted the same area in North OK since I was 10. We have about a dozen stands scattered around the property, but often times just pick a tree, rock,or bush and lean against it. Also, I really don't do a lot of scouting anymore. I've realized at this point that the deer tend to use the same trails year after year after year, so I don't really have a pic of my bow setup, but here is the view from the porch of our "cabin".

I know have 2 of these haybale blinds out to hunt out of. I really like them since I do not have any cattle right now. There is a tripod inside that little Live Oak tree motte. You can barely see the tripod seat in the middle hole. My view to the feeder about 18 yards.

Ghillie while bow hunting! No thanks! You can get some really light thin ghillie these days. Almost more like a 3D camo effect - perhaps ghillie is the wrong term as I suspect you are thinking of the thick heavy sweat boxes.

16 foot ladder stand in the center of the oak 30 yards from a feeder. Ground blind on some game trails.

The other day I set up another ladder stand just off an old power line. I don't like sitting over a feeder because it just seems that the deer come in and are always wired. I thought about all the deer I've shot over the years with my bow and there has been quite a few, and I realized that not one was shot at a feeder. I'd never really given it much thought, but after thinking about it I can't deny that fact. I can't say I've never sat over a feeder, but when I did it was on property that had a rule to only hunt the feeder. My favorite setup was near an old oak tree that had deer trails and piles of deer scat all around the tree with deer trail coming to it from several directions like the spokes of a wheel. That was the greatest natural setup I've ever hunted and the most productive as well. Sure do miss hunting on that place.

Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.
