I will install a new boat lift control and water line on a dock on Lake Bridgeport this morning then pack up and head out. Gotta make some money to pay for this addiction.

Promised the kids we would go to the Come and Take it Festival in Gonzales this weekend. I might get an evening hunt with my cousins, I may just hang out in the beer garden tent. I'm headed to Laredo last week of October for annual doe thinning and maybe a buck if I can find a good one. I have a big hunt planned with my son, bil and nephew in November.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

I am planning on bow hunting this weekend, but is it cheating if I take a rifle with me too?

I'm pretty excited about this Saturday. I'll tell you that last year at this time I was having back surgery and missed all but one day of the regular season when I got to go. You don't realize how much you take things for granted once you've had it taken away and it killed me to have to sit at home. I've decided to get back to my roots this year and give my old recurve a try. I first started bow hunting with that same bow over 45 years ago and after last year killing a deer isn't what bow hunting is all about. It's all about the hunt which includes all the preparation, and just getting out there and seeing a sunrise, and the taking of an animal is just the icing on the cake.
Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

No pics worth speaking of! Really looking forward to it, but not like normal, when you have a hit list buck frequenting your setup.

I'm headed out late Friday night. We had some deer on TC before we even filled feeder and placed stinker stuffs. In my head I am so ready, but have got a LOT of packing and organizing to get done. Luckily I have tomorrow off.....
36 hours to go!!!!!

Plan on hunting tomorrow am. Maybe Sunday evening too, we will see
It's normally too hot opening day but forecast says it's gonna be 56 tomorrow morning in Bandera

It was 57 here this morning and I found my first scrape about 13 yards from my haybale blind. Put out about 50-60# of corn at 3 locations yesterday evening and it was all gone this morning, even had to fill one protein feeder.

I took your advice and switched my feeders to go off 4 times a day. 3 feeders going off 4 times a day all corn has been getting cleaned up

I didn't put out any trail cams....I want to be surprised.
Plus it forces me to go hunt and not just check camera pics

Fed the roads this morning and when we were leaving we passed one of the roads we had fed a few minutes earlier and there were already deer feeding on the corn. That was at 10:15 so ya'll might want to sit all morning.

The life in this entire forum not just the bow hunting sub forum is dwindling. We need new blood to join and stick around for a while.

I'm on call this weekend but will have three days next weekend to try and bag something. We have a new tripod tucked away in an oak grove that I'm excited about.
Adult late onset hunter. Why did I wait so long to get started?

I'm probably going to head out in December and go hunt with the kids then.

Gonna try and go tomorrow before work.
Gave the stand a day and a half rest, hopefully the mature buck I saw will come into the feeder this time
