The rain stopped around 4pm today in the Mason area, and shortly thereafter the guinea hens started yelling! It doesn't take much to set them off, but I've learned to interpret their hollering pretty well, and it sounded to me like they had a predator after them. I grabbed one of Bill Ruger's machines and a magazine full of CCI MiniMags and hauled it out the door, fully expecting to see another raccoon casing the coop. Turns out it was a possum, slowly crawling up the fence to see what was on tonight's menu. Turned out that after a couple of MiniMags to the head, he lost his appetite.

Ha, when I got my 10/22 I loaded the clips and went walking around my property looking for anything to shoot. I have quail in the corner of my 20 acres and a possum was just walking near the quail house. I dumped a clip on him in less then a second. I came into the house just as happy as can be.

He's been eating well, with a steady diet of guinea hens and chickens. They seem to grow real big, real fast on that sort of diet!

Good shooting. That's one raider who won't be back.
