What can anyone tell me? Thinking about possibly purchasing one. Just seems that you can purchase a fairly new one for the same price as a new side by side and these have a cab with heat and a/c.

Appreciate any and all feed back from those with any experience with these.

The ones I used on a ranch(4 of them) were not built well enough to hold up to daily off the road use. Parts at that time were hard to find and expensive. Look at where the radiator is located...some under the seat and some in front like a normal vehicle. The ones under seat get a lot of dust and debris. All the ones we had were automatic 4x4 and lacked power. Headroom and leg room is a huge issue if you are taller or on the big boy side. We had regular extended cab, 1 with front wheels in front of the door and one with front wheels under the front door. We had 2 mini-van 4x4 models with 4 doors and pretty good leg room. All of the models lacked power in 4WD or trying climb a steep incline. Were worthless in the hill country when they were moved up there. Positives are the A/C and heater and being out of bad weather. Very smooth riding and very quiet for noise also. Not any better than a Mule for fuel economy. The minivans were all brand new with very few miles on them. Here is one of the little 4 door 4x4 vans. It would not climb hills in Gillespie County.

Did all of these have the 660cc engines. I ask because I'm seeing some now that have 1000cc engines assumed that might help with the power issue.

I do not remember for sure. I know we had 2 Daihatsu and 1 Suzuki, with Suzuki being better built but not as powerful. The Daihatsu were new models with the one pictured with less than 100km on the odometer, so it was new. I think it was bought in 2009 or so. Quick internet search said 1.3L engine when they made those Daihatsu Hijet and 660cc in the Suzuki Carry model. All were auto transmission so I would think a standard would have had a bit more power. IIRC we had one Mitsubishi? model also. I just remember getting the Suzuki stuck once in mud and putting it into 4wd and it would not turn the front wheels. Those Daihatsu's would at least spin the front wheels if you put it into 4wd if you got stuck. The one nice thing about the Suzuki Carry was that on the bed you could let down or take off all 3 sides of the bed. They were loose pin hinged. Made it nice to load and unload something out in to or out of the bed.

Used one for a while. Only complaints I had with it was it didn't like to idle, would just die, which I'm sure was from neglect/abuse and it was a standard and the drivers seat was on the wrong side, took some getting used to. Other than that it had plenty of get up and go for us and had a hi/lo 4x4.

Many benefits starting with price! Heat, long bed/flat bed.. parts can be hard to find, but they're out there on the www.. 4x4 is a must as they stick on wet grass.. check for rust before purchasing as many of these were used in the rice fields before coming over.. plenty of power for us in the hill country and never been stuck in 4 wd.. driving from the right takes some getting use to and they can be uncomfortable for a large person as the cabs are small.. ext cab is the way to go if you can find it. Not sure if I lucked out on fuel economy, but we have a 7 gallon tank and seems to last forever.

Edit: Ramball did the high rack and turned out great!

I was about to buy one until my buddy talked me out of it, way too small (I mean tiny) and the damn engine is under the seat. parts are expensive and the worst was the ride, roughest utv out there.

I was looking at them hard years ago, but was scared since I couldn't find anyone who had any knowledge/experience with them.

They are rough, small, and not ideal but I dont understand the power issues. I had a Mitsubishi that was a billy goat, i think it would climb anything in 4lo and most things in 4 hi
