I always keep them along with the original paperwork, sales receipt etc.

If it comes in a hard case like a pistol or shot gun then yes I keep. If cardboard....no.

I keep mine and laminate the original sales receipt. I've learned the hard way those thermal paper receipts fade to nothing over time. Now I make a black ink copy of any receipt that I might need in the future.

I always keep all of the packaging and all paperwork. Though I don't ever sell guns so that's not a factor.
