THF Bowhunters,

I purchased this bow at Academy for a super low price. Has anyone used one of these entry Parker bows before? Any reviews, feedback? Keep in mind this is my first bow ever so I can't justify spending $1,000.00+ just yet.

I almost bought a Parker set up once. They make a decent bow and for what you have in it you will do okay. Just be sure it's set up to properly fit you and you get some help in making sure your form and follow through is right with it. You can kill a target and a deer with it, no problem.

Thanks for the feedback. The deal was too good to pass up. Until it breaks or flakes out it will be my official compound bow. Im going to take it to an archery shop tomorrow so they can size me up and configure it for my draw length and draw weight. I thought 60 lbs would be an easy pull but was I surprised, maybe I am getting old. I will work my way to 60 lbs.

What is the average lbs draw weight configured for a 5'11 male?

Looks like its about like my Martin Threshold. Similiar in design. It may not weight 3 and half pounds but with the advancement in bow technology over the past 30 years I'd bet its more than capable of getting the job done. My bow is set to 70lbs and around your height. I'm finding with my basic setup I just enjoy shooting. Its relaxing and helps me to decompress.

I have been hunting for several years with a parker spitfire, I love it. I have had several opportunities to upgrade, but I just like it too much.

This is just one man's opinion and the only thing I have to back it up is years of hunting with a compound, recurve, and crossbow.
Unless you are into competitive shooting or high dollar trophy hunts that bow you bought will be more than you need to get the job done.
On low end bows just check often for stress cracks in the limbs or cables that look like they are pulling loose.
I've never bought high end equipment and I'll admit I've had some limb and string failures in the past.
Any bow can fail, even the most expensive, so just take care of your equipment and maintain it and it will last a long time, and as mentioned above, the technology has come a long way since I first started bowhunting 50 years ago.
Be sure to register your bow with the manufacturer for their warranty. Academy my honor a return also but you never know?

Parker makes some good bows that will serve the hunter well.

I also want to thank Brian Langston and Davin Langston from West Houston Archery for sizing me up and configuring my bow draw length, draw weight, and letting me shoot at the range a few minutes past closing time. Their customer service is excellent. They don't even sell this brand of bow there but the attention I received was superb. Great experience!

I just had the limbs on my high end bow replaced due to a splinter on one of them. Warranty job, no questions asked. But I shoot several times a week. That said I have shot out lower cost set ups in the past. If you are a casual archer and hunter, take good care of your equipment and store it properly it should last for years. Post pics in this section ton when you draw first blood with it.
