I just returned 4 pairs of waders to cabellas up in Allen and they gave me a gift card for the full amount. 2 pair are 1 year old and the other 2 were 2 years old. All had splits on the heels in the rubber boot area. I had washed and cleaned, dried, then lubed them up with vaseline. Put a plastic bag over them and hung up by the heels in my garage. But they all had the cracks. I'll plan on storing them in their boxes they came in in my closet this time. Now waiting on some waders to go on sell.

I think hanging waders is a bad idea, always had issues when I did that, so I stopped doing it.

And Cabelas used to do all returns no questions asked, then they went stricked to 1 year max, and now they are somewhere in between. They will normally always give you something on trade in.

If they do away with their return policy, what's the point of shopping there with their prices?

I wash the mud of my waders after every season and that's it. I have 3 pairs of cabela's waders, 2 pairs of which are 5 or 6 seasons old, and none of them have those cracks. I think you may be doing more harm than good with the plastic bag, Vaseline, etc.

I bought a new pair last year when I stepped on some rebar and poked a hole in one of the boots. The pair I replaced was probably 10 years old and didn't have any cracks or leaks.

I have to say Cabela's hand down is where I go for hunting gear. I hope BPS doesn't buy them out.

I have a 6 year old pair of Redheads from BassPro that finally gave out in one of the knees. Too old to hope for some sort of trade-in value so I plan to either buy from Cabelas or one of the trending online brands like Banded.

If I had 4 pairs go bad, I think I"d get a different kind.

Vaseline and rubber don't generally go well together. Petrolatum products can cause the rubber to deteriorate.
