I just bought my wife a browning x bolt 6.5 creedmoor and am trying to decide what ammo to use for hunting. I have read and read and cannot decide. I see where Nosler has come out with the 140g BT and the Hornady ELD precision hunter 143g and the Hornady Match ELD 140g Hollow Point, etc...... Anyways for those of you that have 6.5 creedmoors or even if you don't what can y'all tell me. Thanks in advance.

precision hunter/Eld-x shoots great in my CM. Almost as good as my handloads. Very consistent from load to load and from lot to lot.

Not much info yet on Internet about its performance on game but Nathan at Terminal Ballistics Research in New Zealand (www.ballisticstudies.com) told me they have exceeded his expectations in every possible way and he has taken numerous game animals out to 600 yds

Lots of good bullet choices for that round as far as bullets go. Hit Chad up at www.DallasReloads.com+

I do not own a Creedmoor and doubt I ever will but use several other 6.5s some on either side of the Creedmoor and have had good results with anything from 120gr Ballistic Tips, 130gr Accubond, 123gr SST, 140 partition, 160gr Hornady RN... There are lots of good 6.5 hunting bullets.

I will be shooting 129gr LR Accubonds this season

What are you going to hunt? If it's coyotes, bobcats, and other smaller vermin most anything will do fine. If you are talking hogs, deer, antelope and other deer-sized game I'd suggest Nosler Accubonds, Partitions, or ballistic tips. Hornady factory ammunition hasn't impressed me at all. I have killed 2 antelope with mine. Both were shot with Berger 140 grain VLDs. Both died where they were standing and just fell over stiff-legged. But you may have to search to find that bullet loaded in factory ammunition. I know that HSM loads it and there are probably a few other as well, but I haven't seen it on the shelves locally. Unfortunately that is the only bullet I have hunted with. But I have found that the 130 Accubond also gives amazing accuracy in my rifles with my reloads.

There is a ton of experience on the 6.5 CM at www.65creedmoor.com You can go there and read what other CM hunters are using and what the results were. The membership there has hunted everything from Alaska large game to prairie dogs.

Welcome to the Creedmoor family. It is my go-to rifle.

I try several different bullets that are appropriate for the game I intend to hunt, then use the most accurate one.
