Uhm, maybe but I think we will still feed protein. But chances are we can't afford to feed enough to do a lot of improvement.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

Very true. But it did not cost me anything. And when I sell him it is all profit. From what I am seeing in the WT business it is coming back to this. There is an old saying "What comes around goes around". Who knows, maybe I am right for a change.

Interesting. What makes you think this is a trend? What are you seeing/hearing?
I am seeing and hearing of people getting out of the WT breeding business. Have personally heard from people that are looking for some other types of animals so that they can still utilize the pens they were using for the WT. Can see the writing on the wall when looking in the hunting section at the amount of those advertising big WT and the prices being lowered. it cost a lot of time and money to raise really big WT. You don't get a really big WT just by letting him get old. Some areas of the State will produce larger deer than others. But without feeding large amounts of protein you will have a WT that is typical of what that area will produce. The large WT business has been going on for quite a few years. Like everything it may have run its course. That or all I have said may be a bunch of BS. Only time will tell.

I think you are right on!
