Just a basic inquiry for anyone that knows. What is an average cost for someone with dogs to come to your own property for a full or half day hunt. Thank you in advance.

I would do it for free if I had enough dogs.

The only guy I know that does that type of thing charges $650 per day plus meals and lodging. I'll bet you can get someone down there to do it for free if you advertise hard enough.

Most of the good guides charge $500-$650/day and bring plenty of dogs and a hunting vehicle that you can hunt off of. I expect that because of good populations of birds, you will need to book a guide well in advance of when you may want to hunt.

That's all I do all winter when I'm not guiding hunts on my own places and going rate around my area is $750 to $950. I usually get $750 to $800 but the other 2 guys I work with charge $850 and the other $950. Everyone complains about how high that is but when you pay for the dog food and vet bills all year, factor in the price of what it would cost you to go buy 12 or 15 nice dogs, and a hunting rig, and somthing to haul it there and it's not really that much. Even $750 divided amongst 3 hunters is only $250 a man, you can hunt a lot of days for that and not come anywhere close to the cost of one good dog. I'm sure they're lots of guys with one or two dogs that will come out for free but if you want 10 to 15 GOOD dogs and someone who knows how to handle them and has good hunting rig it's probably gonna be atleast $650 but I'd bet more along the $750 range. Cool ain't cheap and cheap ain't cool.

Willko, You better plan on $750+ to get someone with a truck full of dogs. Most of these guys are booking fast. Good luck.

Willko, I am in Victoria Co. as well. Shoot me a PM and let me know what you have in mind, I might be willing to split the hunt with you. We have property in Calhoun Co. as well that has been full of Quail recently.

Have you guys thought about trading the opportunity to hunt for the use of the dogs? I bet there are plenty of folks who would be interested in hunting the properties with you guys and bringing the dogs...

One old dog laid down under a shade tree. The young dog would not point and neither retrieved.
