So I got about 2 inches of rain last Friday, I had planned on planting my winter food plots this coming Saturday. Now I am wondering if that is a good plan or not. I am concerned that there will be enough residual moisture to cause the seeds to sprout and then it won't rain again for another month and everything will die.

I am not a farmer, most years it is bone dry when I plant.

Id say plant now and take the risk of them burnin up or you may end up not getting anything in the ground or to sprout if you wait to long

I'm planting next weekend. Don't have a choice because of limited time on the weekends. Just going to plant and pray.....just like always.

I planted Saturday last, I also had a 2" rain 3 days or so prior, I think if the roots can get down a few inches in 14 days, I should be good and there is good moisture from that rain still under the surface (here). High humidity and heavy dew at night has helped I believe as well.

If you only have the weekends to work and can't really time it right before predicted rain, I think I would roll the dice, if it is semi dry, you probably wont see full germination until a good rain anyway, but one thing is certain, you wont get anything if it isn't in the dirt! (except for the ones that seem to sprout on my tractor after a few days roflmao
