I'm looking at the Savage Hog Hunter right now. It's a pretty sweet rifle: 20in threaded heavy barrel, enlarged bolt knob, removable iron sights. Anybody have experience with this rifle and if so how do you like it?

Seems like a solid rifle to me. I was going to buy one and ended up getting the Ruger American Predator for cost and weight.

I have one. The factory stock is pretty flimsy, but other than that its a good gun.

My cousin has one and likes it. Good, accurate gun for medium duty use.

I have one, topped it with a 129.00 vortex 2x7 and love it. It's currently my favorite rifle.
It ain't easy being me.

IF they made a lefty, I would consider it. I'm also bummed about not being able to get a Mossberg MVP Patrol in a lefty configuration.

It is a good rifle to take some abuse. The internal mag keeps things clean in there, prevents mag loss and ammo dumps from sticks catching the release, and your stock can survive the elements. If you want the stock stiffer, do a cheap epoxy resin bed on it and fill the buttstock with construction foam. I think the only real complaints on this rifle are in the setup of the iron sights as they are so far off the barrel.

I put a McMillan Hunter stock on mine mostly because I really like that stock. The iron sights are kind of useless but other than that I enjoy mine. Mine is a 223 and I have shot a couple of yotes and some prairie dogs. I have a Leupold fixed 6x scope on mine.

If I had a 223 front cover for the Harvestor it would be even better.

I've adapted and got comfortable enough to shoot right handed. I will probably end up buying this gun in the next couple of weeks and due to the blind magazine I will probably name it "can opener" cause blind mags are just as much of a pain to use for us lol

Also for anybody else that has one what scope bases did you put on yours? I would prefer a 2 piece but I haven't found a big selection for the model 11 when it comes to bases

What scope are you putting on it? I put a SWFA 3-15 and used their rings. Have some DNZ one piece I would send you if you have a one inch scope.

I tried a 2 piece base but it wouldn't work with my 2x7 vortex. A pic rail worked great and looks good. There is one for the round 11.
