Looking for a pet Hunting load for my Sako 85 Carbine, 20" barrel. New gun, so it will take a hotter load than the old army guns.

I've got about every powder know for this caliber, 130 and 140gr bullets. I have some rounds loaded with the new 143 ELD-X haven't shot yet.

kinda bored, watching football, waiting for happy hour to light the drinking lamp banana2

Couple years back I ran Swede T3 22" barrel, and hunted with a 120gr SP Sierra ProHunter with very satisfying accuracy and results on the few critters I hit with it. Used a load straight out of the Sierra book...in either tired range pickups to break the barrel in with or later used Lapua brass and WLR's. The Load was ummm 47.sumthin grains of RL19 and was boringly accurate and capable of dime sized groups of 4 rounds ...my standard 20 rnd flip top box give me 5 groups of 4 rnds doing load ladders .... when I'd taken another dose of BP meds on the way to the range. At longer ranges I could tell the Lapua brass had less variance but some of the range pickups had way more 10 loadings and no prep work done except to full length resize them and trim to length initially & then neck sized only, but at 100 yards it was hard to tell the difference in what brass I'd used that Tikka.

Also got stellar accuracy in Nozler 130gr NAB's too, using the load for Hornady 129gr SP's. I'd pick up another T3 Swede in heartbeat, just other fish to fry before I can get there.

I have a Ruger 77 MK II with 22" barrel. Velocity was measured with a Magnetospeed. Only went to the range once with that rifle since getting the ELD-X so that's all I have.

143 ELD-X, Lapua Brass, CCI Magnum primers, 3.10 COL.

45 H4350- 2675 FPS
45.5 H4350- 2710 FPS

I know the recipes are not the latest thing in print, but when I was getting started with the Swede I found what I needed in the very inexpensive One Caliber spiral bound booklet....and where that Sierra recipe came from I was bragging about, shown as an "accuracy" load at the bottom of the page.
Had similar results in other calibers too, like the 270,30'06 & 300WMg in the older powders. MY T3 270 had the same sub MOA results. These are for of course usually C&C bullets...but I also like the other odd Bullet & Powder brands data shown that is not easy to find.

45.5 gr IMR4350 and the 142 gr did this 4-shot group:

I'm on my 2nd Swede now. Had a CZ550 American for a few years and I recently got a Tikka. I've still got some tuning to do but 46.8 gr of RL22 and 140 gr Partitions is looking really good. I used a similar load in the CZ but it liked a little less powder.

I used enough RL22 to move a 120 Ballistic Tip a hair over 3000fps in a CZ 550. Will see what it does in a new Tikka this next week.

I use a good dose of IMR4350 behind a now discontinued 140 grain Norma bullet. Norma brass for me.
