I found https://shop.guntap.com/reloading/brass-tumbling-and-cleaning. Is there another place I should shop for stainless steel tumbling media?

I need 2 pounds for 223 Rem, 308 Rem and 300 Win Mag. 0.048" x 0.255" will work for all of those?

Thanks,
Mickey

Mickey, it's been a while since I started using stainless so I may not remember everything I went through but I'll try to steer you right.

When I first started I had problems with media sticking in flash holes. It seemed to be .223 in particular but that was what I was doing the most of at the time. Anyway, There would be a certain percentage of cases where two stainless rods would try to pass through the flash hole at the same time and get stuck. I'd have to pull them out with needlenose pliers.

If I recall correctly, I measured my media and came up with 0.047 inch, I think. As I recall there was discussion on another forum I will no longer visit (run by BUNGHOLES) and I think I read they were changing the media to a 0.044" diameter (but please don't quote me) to solve this problem. The odd thing is that my stainless media may have "worn in" because it just doesn't seem to happen so much anymore.

I bought my setup from STM and it has been good.

RiverRider - good info, thanks. I'll look into the size a bit more. Size seems to predominately be .047 or .048. Info I see in various places suggests pins won't get stuck though I expect otherwise. How much remains to be seen.

You know, now I am thinking the STM guy might have said 0.041 inch...but I just CRS. Wish I knew what I was talking about for sure.

Ha, now you're giving me the run-a-round!

Still cruising the Intertubez and found...

The media that we have at Sinclair is only .040" in diameter, so it will easily go through the .080" diameter flash hole on most domestic-produced brass, as well as the smaller .060" flash holes found on some other cases.

.047"x.255"

.048 will stick. seems ridiculous i know, but get .047. look at STM for the media.

I use 0.062x0.255

A guy by the handle orisolo sells it on the castboolits forum for about 7-8 per piund. It's heavier than what I got from sts and doesn't cling to the brass.
