That mounts directly to gun w/out a rail. Does it exist? Looking for one for my Remmy 700 SA. Thanks.

Yes, Nightforce Unimount. Check Euro Optics or Midway USA.
Choose the height needed and scope tube size, 30 or 34mm.

Thanks but they don't make that in 34mm. Ha!

Should not be a big deal to open up 30mm to 34mm. How about calling NF and asking them? They make 34mm rings and scopes. They need it in the lineup anyway.

Someone here said they called DNZ and had them custom make a mount in silver rather than black, with no upcharge. Might be worth a shot to call them to see if they can do something for you.

I am glad to find his post. I have been looking for weeks for a one piece 34mm for my Rem 700, no rail. Let us know what you find out.

We've got a winner! Well, except for the price. $325 + shipping. Oooooouuuuuch. I was willing to do ~$250 but can't swing ~$340.

Curious why you don't want to mount a rail? It's alot more versatile than the Near. And they you get your pick of ANY rings. It just doesn't look as pretty.

W/a 1 piece base & no rail: you take out an extra attachment/failure point (rings to base) I feel they are truer from the factory I feel they are stronger I feel they are more rigid I like the looks better

Near probably makes the most clean setup PERIOD. Lots of guys been running Richard's rings/bases/mounts for years. You won't find a tool mark anywhere, I have yet to see anyone say they've ever left a ring mark either. The sako guys swear by them.

They are in Canada too, not 100% sure that's US dollars If it's Canadian denomination then it's $245 USD. I'll have to check into it!

For something that is more or less "one piece," that looks like a very nice setup. I like the way they sculpted it to allow better access to the mag well. Looks tougher than hell while not unattractive, too.

W/a 1 piece base & no rail: you take out an extra attachment/failure point (rings to base) I feel they are truer from the factory I feel they are stronger I feel they are more rigid I like the looks better The weak link in most picatinny setups aren't the rails nor the rings, most failures are the mounting screws. The exact same screws used for a direct mount. The disadvantages of a unimount are: -limited in scope length depending on configuration -limited to Bell size(what height clears a 44mm may not clear a 50 or 56mm) -if you ever booger up a set of rings or threads they arent replaceable -you're limited to tube size if you ever change scopes -you'll need one for every rifle if you moves scopes vs same rings and only need a $50 base from each rifle Those are the reason I use picatinny rails
