Looking to play around with my ATN 3-14. Nothing serious but "hunting practical" (within 150+- yards). I am new to NV hunting/scopes but came across an 850nm light but wanting to use a laser as well. Budget is, of course, considered ($400). Not even sure I can do it on my budget, but worth a shot. I have some Cabela's points and looking to buy from there.

Are you talking targeting or illumination?

Targeting (I assume). I have an illuminator but want to "hit what the laser is pointing at" if that's makes sense. This is all new to me but was waning that capability in a laser than can only be seen with NV. Does that make sense?

I had one for my X-Sight 1 5-18/5-20 or whatever it was... It's ok, but with the X-Sight, you still have to illuminate the target to see it, then you can lase it. Throwing a laser dot out there only, really doesn't do anything, if you can't see the whole target. Yes, you can see the Laser dot, but you can also see the crosshairs on your target when illuminated. It's not like a laser designator where you see the complete laser line from your laser to the target, you only see the dot.

Pic of what I sold and where mounted. (You can also see the two rechargeable batteries I had for the scope)

IMHO, save your money for something else.

Charlie

Take a look at the Steiner DBAL lasers. Not cheap, unfortunately ...
