I am in the market for a new pair of hunting boots. I have been wearing danner pronghorns but keep getting blisters on my feet after a long days hunt. What boots do you wear?

I was going to recommend those exact boots since that's what I usually wear haha. Maybe look into more of a hiking boot like a Lowa or Solomon. Go to your local REI and check things out. That type of boot tends to be more form fitting and lighter weight. I'm sorry to hear that your pronghorns aren't working or for you, I love mine.

I have a pair of Irish Setter boots that I use for upland hunting (lots of walking) and they are doing well. No complaints.

Have a 20 year old pair of Russell South Forties that are still the best upland boot I've ever owned. Pricy yep, but when you divide the price by years of service really cheap boot.

I'm a fan of the Danners. My first pair lasted 12 years and my feet never got wet one time. I'm three years into my second pair and have no complaints. I would recommend getting non-insulated whatever brand you choose.

Irish Setter Wingshooters, made by Red Wing.
Also own Danners.

Prefer the Setters, both are good.
The Danners have a pretty aggressive sole, a negative in any muddy conditions.

I definitely look for a sole that's as flat as possible for just this reason. The Irish Setters are very low profile which means less mud attraction and much easier clean up.

I got a pair of zephyr from russellmoccasin.com last year. No blisters, they are custom made to your feet and take a couple months to get them.

I have a pair of kennetrek boots that love. They are tough extremely well built boots. However they are not cheap. I also where tennis shoe type hiking boots if the conditions alow. They are light an conforable. For work I have a pair of Redwings that are great. There are so many options out there in a wide range of prices. Go to somewhere like cabelas and take a look. I know what size I wear in different boots/brands and styles so now I can order them online.

I bought a pair of Lowa boots for elk hunting 6years ago and those are the greatest boots I've had. I wear Chipiwa snake boots when it's warm and then switch to the Lowas. The difference between boots like Lowa or Kennetrec and Danner is sore legs and feet. I highly recommend those quality boots. It's like owning good glass for western hunting. Makes a huge difference.

I just bought the Cabelas Prairie Runner boa upland boots on sale and I have to say, they are pretty awesome. I'm really excited to put them to the test this fall.

i have a pair of the Danner Pronghorns and love them for deer hunting but a bit much for upland in my personal opinion. For more upland type of boot...I bought a pair of Chippewa Boots. It's their upland style lace up. They call them... 8-inch Moc Toe Waterproof Shark Tip boots. I really like them. They look like this... Chippewa Upland Boot

I wear Chippewa Gore-Tex Snake boots when it's still hot out, usually sometime in October I'll switch over to a hiking boot. Its funny, a previous post mentioned the Danners being a better option for deer hunting and I'd have to agree and that's exactly what I'll transition mine into this November. I have been using the boots I wore in the Army lately as I am so used to wearing them everyday and rucking many a mile with a load out. I currently have Salomon's and Lowa's, but I am also a fan of

I will say this; --- whatever brand you choose, if you're going to be walking through west Texas, make sure it's an all leather boot.

Cactus goes right through cordura denier.

I wish, I was sealing the edges to prevent leaks on a standup bin we use to run the second cleaner for our deer corn bagging process before we ran more grain through it. I snapped a pic while waiting for another tube of caulk.

I got a pair of the LOWA Upland GTX boots and they are very comfortable out of the box. I had been concerned that they do not offer the boot in E or wide because I usually need a wider toe but the boot has plenty of toe room in the only width offered. Cautiously optimistic but the insoles seem a bit soft to me so will be wearing them in for a couple weeks to better determine if the great fit equals comfort in the field.

Wool socks like Darn Tough make a huge difference over cotton tube socks. Lowa , Kenetrek, Zamberlain backpacking boots over the $200 upland boots. Order all 3 from Zappos and see which fit best. Zappos has free round trip shipping

I wear a pair of G.I. Boots, the new Mountain Combat Boot with thick wool socks. Have used them for everything from elk in the Rockies to West Texas quail. IMO, for the money they simply cannot be beat.

The current issue G.I. boots aren't bad after they've been broken in, but there are three different makes depending what type of foot that you have and their differences are subtle.
