I have never trapped bobcats but because of fur prices I am interested in doing some this winter. If anyone is or has trapped bobcats in the East Texas area I would like to here your ideas on how to. Any recommendation on You Tube Videos would be helpful too. Thanks for any advice or input.

Based on a link from trapping today in my previous post, it looks like bobcats may bring 30 or 40 dollars. That would be better than coons bringing 2 to 5 dollars. I figure I can be a millionare quicker trapping bobcats! HA HA!

I don't have any fleshers or stretchers so I was thinking to skin them and put them in the freezer until I can sell them. RP Outdoors is a couple hours away from where I live so I was planning to take them over there at the end of season. I will take 100 coons if I can catch them Flintknapper. Really not trying to get rich at it just doing it for the enjoyment.

I haven't run a trap line in many years, but it seems I had to catch all the 'possum' out of an area before I'd really start getting the Coons. Bobcats (despite being numerous where I am) are not that easily trapped (or at least not by me). I'd much rather skin a few Bobcats than a bunch of Raccoons and I'd rather skin a dozen of either than one Coyote! Wish you the best of luck Sir. Be careful out there and have fun. Flint.

Well don't get to excited about the prices bud I'm just letting you know because I am a buyer as well. You might get 5-15 for your cats from rp and a dollar per coon if they're even going to accept any. I'll be runnin my routes again thi year but I'm not sure If I'm going to spend much time on the east side of the state. My routes will be posted on the texas trappers and fur hunters website within the next month or two.

I would not consider 30-40 dollars to be good prices. When East Tx cats get to about double that I may consider harvesting them again. Three years ago 60-90 for the east tx cats and the west tx average was over 250
When the Chinese quit buying the market dropped drastically so I have been letting them go for the most part.

There's a lot more factors that go into the price of fur than the Chinese. Chia buys fur to manufacture to then export to Russia. Russia drives the North American fur trade, plan and simple. If the Russians don't have any money to buy any "commodity" type goods then good luck moving fur for any price. Oil needs to get to at least $70 a barrel and stay there to see exceptable prices. There's a lot more factors that influence fur price but that's the main factor right there. I don't see a real price jump until close to 2020 to be honest, too much cheap oil to where Russia's economy cannot prosper and regain strength in their currency to have global purchasing power

I feel even better knowing there will be some Russians freezing their toushes off while my fur is still running around keeping cats warm
