Greetings Hunters, I know some parts of Texas can get very cold during deer season. How do you heat up your deer stands?

Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

I use a Coleman ceramic heater because it makes practically zero noise.

I am always more concerned about being too hot vs being too cold.

I use Coleman catalytic propane heaters. They don't seem to make them anymore. NOT producing high levels of carbon monoxide is important to me in the stand.

I just bought at Cabela's a little buddy for my new stand. No one even knew the name on the main floor, but when I went up to camping they had several kinds there. I have another one in my old blind and it works great at keeping me warm or at least from freezing.

Portable propane here too! Use 'em outside when we go camping & set 'em on the dock when we go fishing!

Proper clothing works for me. I doubt a heater would work very well in a treestand.

Proper clothing works for me. I doubt a heater would work very well in a treestand. Ha it's good to see another weirdo like me. I hate sitting in a box. A few layers of merino wool and I can sit wherever I need to and see and sense everything around me. No eating popcorn drinking out of my yeti tumbler. I mostly just bowhunt but if I feel like gun hunting I park a varmint chair on a bluff. To add to the post my brother hunts boxes and has put a little buddy in each blind. Then he only has to pack a propain bottle in with him. Be very careful whenever you light them. Take your ear plugs out. You've got to be able to hear. Turn your nose on high also. Watch for mirage effect from fumes. Do all this before you light it. My brother has so many story's. My favorite it the time he lite it and the whole floor of the blind glowed blue. He's lucky he's never been hurt. He's built a little stand in the corner of each blind which is a great idea cause it keeps it off the ground and prevents tipping.

No heaters for us. A nice 1/2 to mile walk gets you warmed up on the way to stand and dress accordingly. Still get cold every once in a while, but its never been a problem. Ill feel my fingers again when I get back to camp or when I start gutting whatever I shot.

Little Buddy if box stand and this year I'm adding 20lb tanks outside with extension hose at each box stand. However, I prefer a climber, lock-on or just me and my jump stool in an ambush spot.

Thanks for the great feedback. Looks like I will be using a small propane heater for now. It's not too cold in my hunting area most of the year but for hog and predator hunting at night come this winter, I am sure a small propane heater will come in handy. Right now we are under attack by coyotes. I think the deer and hogs are long gone by now. - New Hunter

I've never really used heaters in stands. What I have done is insulate the box blind I hunt and then wear warm clothing. It doesn't seem to take too long for it to heat up in the stand and I usually end up shedding a layer.

We use a Dearborn bathroom heater hooked up to a bulk tank on the ground.

pocket hand warmers and proper clothing keep me warm enough. I don't like sitting in box blinds.

Guy on our lease is from Cuba and haaaates the cold. Has a 30lb propane bottle below the stand powering his little buddy heater inside the stand. He likes to turn it on full blast and hunt in his underwear. He's a weird dude.
