I ordered a sample pack of some 230gr cast lead bullets from Badman bullets. I had some concerns over how they would stabilize but it worked great. Accuracy was slightly worse than the 190gr bullet I had been using but I think terminal performance will be better. Loading them over 5gr of HP38 for about 1000fps, very quiet in 357 SBR rifle.

230 vs 158hp

50 yard group looked like this, slightly lower POI than the 190's. Dot is 2"

that should work.
i only use fp or hardcast
in my 357 rifles. hollow
points are too frangible for
rifle velocities in my experience.
i did try barnes, but they wouldn't
group.

I use 180gr Nosler Partitions in my 357 rifles. Nosler discontinued them a few years ago but I still have about 500 of them so should be good to go for a while. That bullet should do plenty damage with that wide flat tip and weight behind it to push through a long way.

That is the kind of subsonic Suppressed load I could see working very well for hunting. Not a long range rig but very effective in its range limitations.

I limit myself to a feeder at 65 yards.

What thread size did you use on that sbr? I am waiting to get a stamp to sbr my 77/357. It's been six months now. I measure the barrel thickness right there and it's just over 0.7". I want 5/8 threads but I'm not sure if there is enough shoulder. Thanks.

1/2x28" is pretty standard on 9mm bores, not sure what benefit 5/8x24 would be as most 9mm cans will be 1/2x28 or metric. Might not have quite enough shoulder. I think mine is 10.5"

That's a nice looking round, bet they make quite a satisfying "thump".

What kind of rifle is that?

Ruger 77/357, the thump is quite loud in the mud.

Neat looking load! Should pick a pig off it's feet fairly easily.
