thinking of getting one. Most my shots will be at 100 yards Maybe some at 2-300 max. Do you do good with shots like that?

My son shot a hog this afternoon with his 300 BO at 100 yds. Probably went 80-90 lbs. Dropped in its tracks.

I use it and have dropped several. Only had 1 run more than 3 steps and it was because of my shot placement. Great hog round.

My personal opinion

It's better than a 5.56 if you want to recover the hog. It's not as good as a 6.5 Grendel or 6.8 SPC II, but the 300 BLK does have the advantage of offering subsonic ammo if that's important. I view it as a fairly short-range weapon (<125 yards) although it can obviously be used beyond those distances.

The .308 AR-10 variants offer good hog-hitting power and excellent ammunition selection, but they are heavier than the AR-15 based weapons.

That's my 2˘ worth. YMMV IANAL MTFBWY

I have one that is suppressed and love it! Very accurate and lethal on hogs.

I am personally not a fan of it, but I rarely hunt over a feeder and often take shots at running hogs. If you do hunt over a feeder you will have time to take a well aimed CNS shot and caliber becomes far less important.

I have been using a blk out for the last 3-4 years for all my hunting. It is a great performer on deer and pigs. I recommend the 125 grain SST or 125 grain Ballistic Tip. The 125 weights give the best velocity while providing perfect mushroom shaped bullet expansion with deep penetration. Below is what I shoot.
