When I was a youngster growing up near Devine, TX, there was a store in the middle of town by the name of Loggins and Lilly's, if they did not have it in stock, you truly did not need it. Their slogan was "Everything from a Ratskin to a Ranch" and you could buy either or anything between in this store. This week on CARNIVORE, I go back to the home ranch with my hounds and try to tree a coon or cat in one of the huge live oaks along Black Creek where I treed a critter 50 years ago and make a tour of the town to see what has changed. I left there in 1975 and in those days many of the pickups had dog boxes on them as there were many coon, bobcat and a few hog hunters. All of the pickups had a gun rack in the back window with at least one rifle in it and no one locked their vehicle.
I hope that if you have a chance, you will tune in.
Adios,
Gary

That's cool...be prepared to cry. smile
It's sad to go back and see all the best things are gone. It will be cool to be out hunting in your old stomping grounds. Best of luck. I look forward to see it when it airs...I'll be looking for watery eyes:)

Dang I was 1 year old when you left that place.

Some places in Texas you can still leave things unlocked. Still can in my old home town.

I never lock my house. Got a hungry gsd and some pretty gnarly booby traps...

Spent my high school years on the weekends in Prosper hunting dove, coyote, bobcat, and drinking in downtown Celina on Friday night. Bonfires by the railroad tracks, hunting by horseback in the snow, going down old dirt roads and walking abandoned farmsteads with my girlfriend and buddies. Can't even find the old place now nothing but 350k and 550k homes as far as you can see. I just wish I could go back for another weekend. Damn I'm old...

Just watched the show, very good. Thank you.
Near the end the is a picture of (I assume) you holding a bobcat. The hat you are wearing looks like it has a rocket on it. I think I had a similar one, did you do HPR?

That was a young Gary Roberson holding the bobcat. I am not sure what was on the cap, not sure what HPR stands for. I will look at the cap a little closer and see if I can remember what it was promoting.
Thanks,
Gary

Nice show Gary. What caliber Ruger single 9 were you shooting?

The Single Nine comes in one caliber and that is .22 Magnum. It has adjustable sights and is extremely accurate. I love this pistol and carry it quite often when hunting where there is a chance to tree a bobcat. When hunting around Menard, I carry the little Ruger SR 22 because it is so small and lightweight. Also has the adjustable sights and great trigger.
Adios,
Gary
