I'm having issues sighting in my rifle. I keep adjusting the scope but the bullet groups still seem to stay the same distance high. Any idea what could be causing that?

What distance are you sighting in at? What rifle, caliber, and scope are you using? Are you shooting off of sandbags, a bipod, etc?

What scope, rifle and mounts? what you described if I m thinking right can happen if you run out of travel on a scope with not enough adjustment range for the mounts

Are you near the end of travel one direction or the other? it has been a while but remember one scope that was and ran it all the way the other direction, then back to the middle and started over sighting it in and that time things worked. Don't even remember what scope it was

Are the groups moving right/left instead?

It's a Thompson Center Dimension with a Nikon Prostaff 4 - 12 X 40 scope, and AccuShot Picatinny/Weaver Medium Profile 2-piece 1-inch Rings for mounts. Not sure about the end of travel.

Honestly haven't messed with right or left once I got it directly above my target.

Also, possible user error. This is my first rifle to sight in.

Thanks for the help

Where are you located? I am sure there is somebody here who would be happy to help you out in person if we knew where you were.

Possibly, vertical on scope is not working. Try tapping adjustment area with an empty casing after making adjustment.

Not on a 20 MOA base that's installed backwards are you?

Bit of a haul to Wolfe City, but you're welcome to come out next week.

What range do you use? Quail Creek?

If the barrel gets hot that could be your issue.

Does the scope have locking turrets or a screw to loosen and unlock them so you can reset the knob to zero? They might be freewheeling at the moment.
