I have an andriod phone and samsung /andriod tablet Both with mini usb ports only I have an adapter with a SD card slot
I cannot find an ap or anyway to use either of them to view pics off of the SD cards in my game cam
Lots of SD aps but none are working for me
Have any of you made this work?

Yes, I ordered a mini usb to regular usb wire and plug the card reader into that. Works on my Adroid phone and tablet. Ill see if I can find it on amazon and post a link.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

I did the same. After reading the compatibility list my phone was not on it. Oh well it works on my sons phone and he's always out there with me.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

I have the adapter, thats not the problem. I can make the connection, its just that the phone and tablet don't see the SD card I have a file manager AP on both devices and the SD card that is connected through the usb hub doesn't show up. The device cannot see it and I don't know how to make it do that

Are they in your gallery or do you have to use an AP to view them?

Note all android platforms seem to have the ability to access an external reader/drive. My S4 did not. My S7 does. It may be helpful if you get the ES File Explorer from the app store. It is free.
If you can't get it to work with ES File Explorer, then your phone may not be capable without modification (which I don't understand how to do).

I view mine through my photo gallery in my phone with an adapter. Sometimes i have to plug and unplug a few times for it to pick up the photos. It also wont find them at all if the adapter is plugged into my phone before the sd card is in the adapter

that must be it guys. My andriods just cant see the external sd card.
My son has a cheap tablet he no longer uses that has an external micro sd slot, maybe I can use the SD adapters I have and read the pics with that thing

Also like ricky said, sometimes its the way it's plugged in too. I think mine has to have sd card plugged into the reader before plugging reader into phone too.

yeah, I have tried that also. My son's old tablet has a micro SD TF slot that works. I can switch out my SD's to them and use the adapter

I have a female USB to male microUSB adapter which I used on my Samsung S3 a few times. I plugged a small SD card reader into it. I don't recall the details, other than it was painfully slow to view pictures and I gave it up. In my case I hunt at a friend's place and he has a house there. I brought up an old XP computer and we just use that to view game camera photos. It's not connected to the internet, so I don't worry about it getting infected with anything. So, can't really offer help other than to say I did make it happen with my old S3 phone, but I concluded it wasn't worth the trouble.
I have two unwritten rules: 1. 2.

Off topic but if you have an S7 don't use it on airplanes or charge on board...Some of the batteries blow up at altitude.

well, I figure the key to making this work
An android device has to have OTG "On the Go" support this is the hard ware that it was built with that allows it to read other mounted media not all Android devices have it
I found an ap that finds out if yours does and I found that my Samsung tablet does so I open the file manager and then insert the card reader with the card in it like you guys said.
this time, I saw a 2nd SD card in the files, one it the on board card the other was the one it was reading through the adapter
I can view the pics and from there I can copy the ones I want into my tablets photo file and delete them off of the SD card if I want to
