As I mentioned, this is the first time I have seen ammo sold in small, wooden boxes as it was long ago. Should make for a nice addition to display cases.

Received three boxes from Midway today. IMO, a truly unique item with a definite throwback appeal to a much earlier era. Somewhat surprised the price isn't much higher than normal boxes of ammo. Not at all surprised Midway now shows them temporarily unavailable.

Thankfully, each box was individually bubble wrapped and sealed so they can be stored and kept in new condition for years if not decades to come.

Several years back I bought some of the John Wayne commemorative 30-30. Just liked the box with his image on it.

Where those also in a wood box? These include a Commorative paper board box and cartridges that come inside a small, Commorative wood box. Both the wood and paper board boxes have their own anniversary markings.

The wood box has a sliding lid much like ammo boxes from 150 years ago.

TD, I honestly do not know. I remember I was going down to some land we own in Erath Co and I stopped at Cabela's and saw the ammo, picked up several boxes. Believe I may have left it at Dublin.

In the photo below, the lid on the outer wood box is shown half open so that you can see the conventional ammo box inside with its own anniversary packaging.

The wood box packaging is only available in the 30-30 caliber.

Just a quick heads up that Midway USA now shows this "wood box" ammo as unavailable due to "limited production". Cabela's still shows it as being available if any collectors out there are interested in buying a box or two.

IMO, the wood box makes a great office piece.

I'll have to pick up a box of that to go with my my Golden antler 30-30
